Bi Directional Knife Edge Gate Valve

Bi Directional Knife Edge Gate Valve

Single Acting Pneumatic  Actuator
Manufactured by Aira Pneumatics

Aira Pneumatics is a leading manufacturer and exporter of Single Acting Pneumatic Actuators, based on the Rack and Pinion type transmission mechanism. The actuator body is made from Extruded Aluminium (Hard Anodized), while the caps and rack are manufactured using Aluminium Pressure Die Casting. The pinion is constructed from EN8 material, and the seals are available in BUNA-N or VITON, ensuring durability and reliable performance.

This actuator is designed in accordance with ISO 5211 standards, enabling quick and easy mounting. It operates on a normal air supply pressure of 4 kg/cm², with a maximum pressure tolerance of 7 kg/cm². Available in 90° or 180° rotation, it delivers torque up to 6356 NM, making it ideal for a wide range of industrial applications.

Features & Benefits
  • Hard Anodized Body for protection against hazardous environments and corrosion—extends actuator life.
  • Namur Standard Pinion Top—slotted and drilled for effortless installation of switches, positioners, and accessories.
  • Adjusting Bolts for ±5% over-travel control between 0°–90°.
  • ISO 5211 Valve Mounting—dual bottom drilling for strong, centered actuator-to-valve installation.
  • ISO 5211 Pinion Bottom—designed with a female key and double square hole to fit valves with square key stems (inline or 45° orientation).
  • Replaceable Sliding Skates—positioned between the pistons and the internal bore to avoid metal contact and enhance actuator life.
  • Compact Design—high torque values with a minimized form factor, ensuring smooth internal sliding with low friction and long service life.
Working Principle
This Single Acting Pneumatic Rotary Actuator uses one central skewed shaft (pinion) and two spring-connected pistons with skewed ends (racks). When pressurized air enters the actuator, the pistons move outward, rotating the shaft due to the rack and pinion engagement. As the air is released, the preloaded springs return the pistons to their original position, again rotating the shaft—completing a full cycle with just one pressurized air input. Hence, it's called a Single Acting actuator.

Applications
  • Valve Operation (90° or 180° rotation)
  • Automated Manufacturing Systems
  • Clamping Mechanisms
  • Hazardous or Flammable Environments (spark-free operation)
  • Hands-free Operations Requiring High Safety & Reliability
